Winter tours typically begin mid November and continue until the end of March, depending on weather and trail conditions. Spend some time in the basket and on the runners of a sled as Randy and the team lead you through a winter wonderland. Winter tours require some athleticism and do have weight limitations. Conveniently located at mile post 7.8 on the Talkeetna Spur Road on the way to Talkeetna, Huskytown Kennel is a great place to learn about Alaska's official sport. The town of Talkeetna was once a booming gold rush town, now more famous as the starting point for climbers attempting to summit Mt. McKinley. The town offers impressive views of the Alaska range, of which Denali, aka McKinley, North America's tallest peak, is the focal point.
